The doctor widower of JFK\u2019s granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg faces bringing up two young children alone after her tragic death from blood\u00a0cancer\u00a0aged just 35.<\/strong><\/p>\n

George Moran was praised by his late wife in a soul-baring New Yorker essay last month revealing her terminal diagnosis and must now juggle his grief, a demanding job and caring for his three-year-old son Edwin and one-year-old daughter Josephine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2018Our beautiful\u00a0Tatiana passed away this morning<\/span>. She will always be in our hearts,\u2019 a tribute from George, his children and other Kennedy\u00a0\u00a0family\u00a0members read in an\u00a0Instagram<\/span>\u00a0post that announced Tatiana\u2019s death on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Family<\/p>\n

Just last month,\u00a0Schlossberg revealed<\/span>\u00a0in a candid essay for\u00a0The New Yorker\u00a0\u2013 published on the 62nd anniversary of her grandfather\u2019s assassination \u2013 that she had been given a year to live.<\/p>\n

In the piece, Schlossberg praised Moran for his\u00a0support throughout her treatment<\/span>, writing: \u2018George did everything for me that he possibly could.<\/p>\n

\u2018He talked to all the doctors and insurance people that I didn\u2019t want to talk to; he slept on the floor of the hospital; he didn\u2019t get mad when I was raging on steroids and yelled at him that I did not like Schweppes ginger ale, only\u00a0Canada<\/span>\u00a0Dry.\u2019<\/p>\n

She added, \u2018He would go home to put our kids to bed and come back to bring me dinner. I know that not everyone can be married to a doctor, but if you can, it\u2019s a very good idea.<\/p>\n

\u2018He is perfect, and I feel so cheated and so sad that I don\u2019t get to keep living the wonderful life I had with this kind, funny, handsome genius I managed to find.\u2019<\/p>\n

Schlossberg was the daughter of former US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy,\u00a0JFK\u2019s only surviving child<\/span>, and designer Edwin Schlossberg.<\/p>\n

She studied at Yale for her undergraduate degree, where she met her future husband, Moran, now an attending urologist at Columbia University.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg later earned a master\u2019s degree in United States history from the University of Oxford and pursued a career as a journalist.<\/p>\n

The couple married in 2017 at the Kennedy compound on Martha\u2019s Vineyard, with former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick officiating the ceremony.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They lived in a $7.68 million apartment in New York City\u2019s Upper East Side, but in Schlossberg\u2019s New Yorker essay, she revealed she spent much of the last year of her life in and out of the hospital.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schlossberg said she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer, in May 2024.<\/p>\n

Doctors only\u00a0found the disease through routine blood tests<\/span>\u00a0after she gave birth to her second child.<\/p>\n

In her piece, Schlossberg said the diagnosis came when a doctor noticed an imbalance in her white blood cell count.<\/p>\n

\u2018A normal white-blood-cell count is around four to eleven thousand cells per microliter. Mine was a hundred and thirty-one thousand cells per microliter,\u2019 she wrote.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2018It could just be something related to pregnancy and delivery, the doctor said, or it could be leukemia,\u2019 she recalled.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg was eventually diagnosed with a \u2018rare mutation called Inversion 3\u2019 which \u2018could not be cured by a standard course.\u2019<\/p>\n

Schlossberg said she was bewildered by the news, and said despite being nine months pregnant, she was routinely exercising and \u2018didn\u2019t feel sick.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I did not \u2013 could not \u2013 believe that they were talking about me. I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn\u2019t sick. I didn\u2019t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew,\u2019 she wrote.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg said she spent five weeks at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital after giving birth, before she was transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering for a bone-marrow transplant.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She then underwent grueling chemotherapy at home, and in January, she joined a clinical trial of CAR-T-cell therapy, a type of immunotherapy against certain blood cancers.<\/p>\n

In a devastating blow following the news, Schlossberg said she was eventually told by doctors that she had just a year left to live.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg\u2019s tragic death is the latest hammer blow for her mother Caroline, who has been beset by a series of horrific tragedies over the course of her life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas in November 1963, five days before Caroline\u2019s sixth birthday.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Five years later Caroline\u2019s uncle Robert Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

In 1994, Caroline\u2019s mother Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis \u2013 the former First Lady of the United States \u2013 died of lymphoma at the age of sixty four.<\/p>\n

And in 1999 Caroline lost her only sibling, John F. Kennedy Jr.\u00a0 JFK Jr, also known as John John, crashed his plane into the Atlantic Ocean off Martha\u2019s Vineyard.<\/p>\n

The accident also killed his wife Carolyn Besette and Carolyn\u2019s sister Lauren Bessette.<\/p>\n
